SPANISH 3 HONORS
 

OVERVIEW AND GENERAL GOALS
Spanish 3 Honors aims at a thorough examination of the Spanish language, from the simple present indicative to the complex imperfect subjunctive. Further, the course attempts to increase the students' vocabulary with new words, while re-enforcing the vocabulary that has already been taught in previous years. Culture is covered through lessons focusing on the various Spanish-speaking countries throughout the world.

First Marking Period

  • The present indicative tense
  • The preterite tense
  • The progressive tense
  • The imperfect tense
  • Formal commands
  • The future tense
  • Conditional tense
  •  The present perfect tense
  •  The pluperfect tense. 

Second Marking Period
●    The present subjunctive
●    The imperfect subjunctive
●    The pluperfect subjunctive
●    The passive voice.

Third Marking Period
●    The subjunctive with expressions of doubt
●    The subjunctive with impersonal expressions
●    The subjunctive after indefinite or negative antecedents
●    The subjunctive with adverbial clauses, "if" causes
●    he passive voice
●    The differences between "por" and "para."

Fourth Marking Period

  • Adverbs
  • Definite and indefinite articles
  • Relative pronoun review
  • The uses of "ser" vs. "estar"
  • Possessive adjectives
  • Cardinal and ordinal numerals
  • Reflexive constructions
  • The differences between “pero” and “sino”
  • Temporal expressions with the verbs “hacer” and “llevar.” 

ASSESSMENT
Testing is done through daily quizzes. Short compositions will be assigned, and exams will be administered throughout the year. There will be Internet Assignments posted on the teacher’s website.
