A few years after Hernán Cortés defeated the Aztecs and caused the fall of the city of Tenochtitlán, another Spaniard, Francisco Pizarro, his band of brothers, and a handful of conquistadores ventured into the unknown regions of Peru in South America in search of the mysterious Inca Empire and its enigmatic emperor, Atahualpa. This week you will watch "The Conquest of the Incas" the Francisco Pizarro section of the four part PBS Documentary "Conquistadors." In this program, British writer and historian Michael Wood traces the steps of Francisco Pizarro and a handful of Spanish conquistadores as they single-handedly destroyed the ancient Inca civilization in Peru.
