A true Jesuit education will require your active participation in the learning process. Therefore, you must be prepared to:
Grading:
The class grades for this class will be determined by the following criteria:
Quizes : 40% Will consist of announced quizzes on your readings, homework and class notes. There will be a minimum of 10 and the lowest 3
will be dropped except in cases of absence or cheating. After 3 absences make up quizzes will be given.
Tests: 30% Will be on material we discuss in class as well as
material from the reading assignments. Here will be 3 tests a quarter.
Essay: 30% Each student will write 5 essays a quarter analyzing an assigned reading project. The essay will be 2 and half to 3 page minimum. The student
should:
Identify the significant facts of the reading.
Identify and discuss the author's viewpoint
Discuss in the students own words the significance of the reading to our modern world.
In addition the students are required to write a 10 page MLA formatted research paper at the end of the Semester.
If for any reason you need help with an academic problem in class or if you are having a difficult time with anything the student should feel free to ask me before or after class for help.
